CDO Workforce's On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program

The Workforce Investment Board of Chenango-Delaware-Otsego (CDO) has made available Federal funds for businesses in the CDO area to address demands for skilled workers. The CDO Workforce System offers the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program to help offset employee training costs for new workers. These OJT Programs provide companies with incentives to hire, train, and upgrade individuals who may lack the skills and/or experience for a particular job, plus were unemployed prior to their job offer. OJT is appropriate for occupations where classroom training is not available, or not appropriate. The job for which the individual is being trained should be a full-time position paying a minimum wage of $7.50 per hour. An OJT program should result in long-term employment with higher productivity.

Companies are reimbursed 50% of the total wages paid to the trainee during a normal work period. The length of training, and therefore, the amount of reimbursement, will depend on the job and the skills and experience of the trainee. IMPORTANT: THE OJT CONTRACT AND TRAINING OUTLINE BUT BE SIGNED BEFORE THE CANDIDATE PHYSICALLY STARTS WORK.
