Certified Phlebotomy Technician Training Program Coming Soon!

DCMO BOCES will be conducting a Certified Phlebotomy Technician Program at the Chenango Campus in Norwich.


Phlebotomy technicians are important members of the clinical laboratory team. New diagnostic techniques, clinical laboratory technology and automated instruments have greatly increased the volume of- and demand for- medical laboratory testing performed by phlebotomy technicians. Phlebotomy technician graduates can work in hospitals, physicians' offices or in independent labs.


Training Description:
  • Is a course designed to give you a foundation in phlebotomy.
  • Prepares you for the National Certification examination through the National Healthcareer Association.
  • Provides a flexible and short-term educational schedule with classes available at DCMO BOCES Campus in Norwich, NY.
  • Teaches by using a combination of classroom instruction (60 hours) and clinical skills lab practice, including a clinical internship rotation at one of the area's health care facilities.
Training Dates:
October 17, 2016- December 1, 2016
Testing anticipated on December 5, 2016.

Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 4:30pm-7:30pm- Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm
Clinical component expected to be scheduled at nearby laboratories, but may include the labs of Bassett Medical Center-- Norwich and/or Chenango Memorial Hospital. Clinicals will include a minimum of 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary draws.  

Tuition Information:
The tuition cost at time of registration is $1118.00, which includes textbook, lab supplies and testing fee for the National Healthcareer Association Phlebotomy Certification Exam.

Requirements prior to clinical component include completion of physical medical examination, required immunizations and drug screen prior to clinical component.


Class size is limited to 16 students. Priority registration given to Military Service Veterans.
